Thanks to the generosity of Joanne Houck and Tim Singletary, every dollar you give to ACHA this week will be matched dollar for dollar—up to $15,000. That means your gift goes twice as far.
Our goal is $30,000 by Saturday, and we can't get there without you.
Tim, a member of ACHA's Board of Directors, isn't just helping make this match possible—he's a member of the congenital heart disease (CHD) community with his own story to tell. He shares it below, and we hope you'll join him and Joanne in giving before the match expires.
It’s July, and that means it’s time for Joanne and my annual matching gift campaign for the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA). This year, we will match every donated dollar, up to $15,000.
Approximately 1 in every 100 children are born with heart defects. While this was a near death sentence prior to the 1960s, medical advances have transformed CHD from a childhood diagnosis into a lifelong healthcare journey. Today, more adults than children are living with CHD in the United States. While survival rates have improved dramatically, adult CHD patients continue to face challenges involving transition from pediatric care, access to specialty providers and proper follow-up care, mental health and wellness concerns, and geographic and financial barriers.
As 1 of the 1 in 100, I was blessed to be born when I was—and to a wonderful family who were able to provide access to the best medical care available. Through three open heart surgeries and a couple of cardiac arrests, I am the poster child for medical advances. Our ask this month is about helping the growing population of adults born with CHD to not only survive but thrive throughout adulthood.
Please consider making a donation today. To make your contribution even more impactful, Joanne and I will match every donation made this week, doubling the difference we can make together.
Thank you for your support!

All online donations from July 19-25 will be matched dollar-for-dollar until the match limit of $15,000 is met. Match funds cannot be combined with other fundraising efforts such as Walk for 1 in 100, ACHA Your Way, or Facebook Fundraisers.
